I've searched the Internet far and wide for a video of David Drysdale's second shot on the par-5 18th during the first round of the BMW PGA Championship, but I can't find it anywhere. I searched the European Tour's website, I Googled several iterations of "David Drysdale Lucky Shot 18 BMW PGA Championship", all to no avail.
The shot is incredibly lucky. In fact, it might be the luckiest shot I've ever seen and I want everyone to see it. From 212 yards away, David mishit his hybrid and sent it straight toward the water. Somehow, someway, the ball hit the water on the fly and it popped back out - like he spun it back. Even David admitted he couldn't believe the ball bounced out of the water. “I don’t know how it happened, but I am delighted it did – it was amazing,” he said after signing for his second-best opening score of the season and his first sub-70 effort in 11 rounds at the Surrey venue. “I don’t know if I hit a fish or something. It was a lucky break – but I’ll take it.”David managed to capitalize on the break and birdied the 18th en route to his first round 6-under-par 66, which gave him a share of the first round lead at Wentworth's West Course. I'm thoroughly disappointed the European Tour did not post a video of the shot OR at least include it in the first round highlights. Bryan K says:I had a shot just last weekend that looked to be certain water hazard material. But it karomed off of one of the stakes onto the front of the green. That was pretty effin' lucky. Except I couldn't sink the birdie putt. 5/29/12
