Phil Mickelson, the MLB owner?

Phil Mickelson is many things.

He is a 40-time winner on the PGA Tour, a four-time major champion, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, and a husband, father, and son among other things.

And in the near future, Lefty may be able to add MLB owner to his list of personal and professional accomplishments.

In disclosing his decision to align himself with the O’Malley family’s pursuit of the local baseball franchise Monday, San Diego’s golf mogul made it clear he was bringing his cash as well as his cachet.

“A lot of my own money,” he said. “And given the price tag, it’s going to be a significant amount.”

John Moores has yet to name a price for controlling interest in his last-place ballclub, but expectations are that the $2.1 billion sale of the Dodgers has lifted all boats, even those that appear to have capsized.

Personally, I would never want to be a part owner of a professional baseball team, mainly because I'm not a baseball fan. Who am I kidding? It would be awesome to be a part owner of any professional team, even if it was the San Diego Padres.

I hear Phil also has siblings so you can probably add brother and possibly even uncle to that list. A list that may never be fully completed by the way. In short this man is a bottomless well of humanity.
