![]() Cobra partners with Ferrari to make limited edition driver By mustang6560 on 6/1/12
Thanks to oober birdieXris for the tip.
Cobra Golf is a small fish in a big pond of OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). But, its trying to amp up its presence in the market to compete with the big fish (i.e. TaylorMade, Callaway, etc.). To grow the brand, the Company signed Rickie Fowler to its relatively small stable of golfers (including Ian Poulter and Lexi Thompson), launched a new line of AMP clubs, and most recently partnered with Ferrari to create a limited edition Cobra Driver. The club, which is the centerpiece of the new Ferrari Golf collection, started its life as a Cobra ZL. Ferrari engineers, using the same software they employ to make cars that go more than 200 miles per hour, then tinkered with the titanium-faced club. Their work made it slipperier through the air, and lighter, thanks to a crown and sole made from carbon fiber. The weight saved by using that material allowed Ferrari and Cobra to add brazed tungsten weights inside the sole to improve launch conditions.I would love to get my hands on the limited edition Ferrari driver - literally. The grip is hand-stitched from the same genuine leather Ferrari uses for its sports cars. I can only imagine how nice it would feel to grip it and rip it! Alas, I'm willing to bet Cobra is not going to send a sample to demo and giveaway. But, I'm definitely going to try! Who wouldn't want a chance to win a $2,000 driver in an Addict Giveaway? If you want to see pictures of the driver, click here, here, or here. read more Image via Flickr, Keith Allison Did I miss something? Tip Your Editor [ comments ] I def would not spend $2K for it... but id like to hit it and see what it feels... On the other hand, one pic seems like the head is a flat red and in a diferent on seems glossy. flat would be much better IMO 6/1/12
"trying to AMP up its presence" I see what you did there... did you do that on purpose? :) 6/1/12
that's some pretty slick stuff. I think I'd look like a poser sporting that gear at my local muni. I do love the word 'slipperier' though. 6/1/12
This kind of stuff could open up a new club rental market. If I could rent a full set of Ferrari clubs for a special occasion that might be fun. 6/2/12
Cant afford a ferrari or the club right now...who cares...oh fathers day is coming up..you think I could get a driver instead of underwear...lol 6/5/12
