Hats: A Golf Fashion Statement
By mustang6560 on 12/22/11
I've never thought of a hat as a "fashion accessory" on the golf course. But, clearly the guys on pgatour.com have so they compiled a brief history of hats on the PGA Tour, from the flat caps of Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson to the flat brim caps of Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan.
I am a visor kind of guy (hats look weird on me) so I wear a gold LSU visor when I play. I've toyed with the idea of upgrading my visor to what I call the "Steve Spurrier visor" (similar to what Bubba Watson and Keegan Bradley wear). But, I haven't found one I like yet so I'm going to stick to what I've got for now.
Does your hat make a fashion statement on the golf course?

For the love of everything holy... just nobody wear a damn fedora anymore, ok?
What's the expression in Texas, all hat and no cattle? If one is going to blaze trails in golf headwear, you really need to have the game to go with it. As such, I wear the standard US Open baseball-style cap. The boring head gear matches up well with my modest golf abilities.
I wear my University of Utah Taylormade hat.
I go with both hat and visor (no, not at the same time)Right now I've got a couple of different ones with Titleist and Cobra logos and a Mizuno. Gear I use.
@Dusty23: I sort of wish you hadn't added the "not at the same time" qualifier. I was kind of chuckling to myself imagining someone wearing a visor and a hat. Nice image!
what's wrong with a fedora? i was actually thinking of getting one.

No hat for me...find it uncomfortable to play wearing one.
"My hat, it has, 3 corners. 3 corners has, my hat..."
LSU...boooo! Roll Tide!!

$1 baseball caps at the Dollar store. I buy them 5 @ time and sweat thru them in 110 degree temp in Phoenix. Use 1 a week and throw them away. Not cheap , just practical.
Where is a good place to get a custom golf logo hat? I'd like to sport more unique hats with companies i support. Or maybe make a completely tour authetic hat all logoed up like some pros.
Have 4 Titleist caps. Black, white, stone, and navy. One to work with nearly every golf outfit I can put together with the clothing I have. Funny thing is, I rarely wear the caps when I'm playing. The one I choose for the day, usually just rides along attached to my bag...unless it starts raining.
I have several different hats that I switch through randomly. My newest is a Military style beret, with a golf bag & clubs pin for over the eye. I call it my golf commando hat..........
