Kerry Wood
![]() Ronald Martinez/Getty Images With Spring Training in full swing in both Florida and Arizona I thought it would be a good time to run a few special Golfer of The Week's with MLB players. Special Thanks to Adam Witter for landing the interviews. First to the plate... or the mound, in this case, Kerry Wood.
Kerry will begin this season with a new team, the Cleveland Indians. Kerry had one of the best starts to a career in Major League Baseball history, but has been troubled by injuries throughout his career. From his Wikipedia entry: "In his fifth career start, on May 6, 1998, he threw a one-hit, no walk, 20-strikeout shutout against the Houston Astros, tying Roger Clemens' record for strikeouts in a 9-inning game and breaking Bill Gullickson's single-game rookie record of 18 strikeouts in 1980. The game is considered by many to be among the most dominant pitching performances in the history of baseball." How old are you and what's your occupation? Who do you play for? 31, Baseball Player for the Cleveland Indians When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap? 12 years ago, 15+ handicap How often do you play? Pebble Beach Best round ever- and what course? 80 Sun Ridge Canyon Fountain Hills, in Arizona What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year? Putting!!!!!!! Being a baseball player, a pitcher specifically, are there any aspects of your pitching you bring into your golf game? Sometimes less is more. Best golf advice youGÇÖve been given. I was encouraged to try putting left handed. It was funny advice, but it was not a joke. [ comments ] Probably injured himself doing this interview, that is how injury prone Kerry is. Electric stuff though 3/9/09
Ya but now you have the other king of injury in Harden so he'll fill in nicely. 3/9/09
