Nothing necessarily "looks" different on oobgolf today, but some major changes took place last night and are now live on oobgolf. This will affect those outside of the USA and Mexico a bit more than others, but there is a little something for everyone. Here's a quick rundown:

You now have the ability to turn off handicapping ("My Settings -> Handicapping"). Maybe you keep an official handicap somewhere else and just want to use oobgolf for stat tracking. Maybe you keep an international handicap we do not offer. This could help.

You now have the ability to enter handicaps manually (Addict Only) This feature is toggled under "My Settings -> Handicapping" and is for those who carry an official handicap who want to tell us what their number is instead of us calculating it automatically. Because of some differences between oobgolf and Official USGA Handicaps it makes sense that someone would want to give us their official number for stat tracking. This also makes sense as we introduce new handicapping systems (like CONGU) where entering a starting index is a much more accurate way to track stats and scores since those handicaps can reflect years of golf played versus just your last 20 scores.

CONGU - Yah, that just happened! Here's the deal- you can access new controls by going to "My Settings -> Handicapping" but please do so at your own risk. When you change from one system to another you are completely changing the way your scores are view by our system. If you start flipping your account back and forth between handicapping systems the site will treat your scores different based on what you had implemented at the time.

UK'ers (British?), if you're going to be making the switch to CONGU as your main handicapping system, we'd suggest you go back and edit any 9 hole scores you may have. You should be able to just click "Edit -> Save" and it will work them out. We've also been capturing SSS ratings for a couple weeks- and you have the ability to add the correct SSS to previous scores if you'd like to edit those as well.

ESC adjustments are no longer part of net scores (outside of handicapping). We had a couple questions about this and after thinking it over, it made sense. ESC is a function of handicapping but if you're playing someone with strokes, or on total net it doesn't make sense for them to get to adjust strokes for ESC. ESC is still implemented fully for handicapping purposes.

ESC adjustments are no longer part of Fair Score. Same rationale as above.

Differential is now rounded to nearest 10th prior to averaging. This is now inline with the USGA Handicapping procedure. It is very unlikely this affects anybody's handicap since we're talking about a single factor in the handicap calculation being rounded to a tenth instead of hundredth. At most, you may realize your handicap index has changed by 1 tenth.

As always- comments and feedback are appreciated. This is a pretty major overhaul to our backend system so there could be some bugs. Feel free to let us know when you find those as well.
