![]() New Features / International Handicapping By Kickntrue on 8/25/10
Nothing necessarily "looks" different on oobgolf today, but some major changes took place last night and are now live on oobgolf. This will affect those outside of the USA and Mexico a bit more than others, but there is a little something for everyone. Here's a quick rundown:
UK'ers (British?), if you're going to be making the switch to CONGU as your main handicapping system, we'd suggest you go back and edit any 9 hole scores you may have. You should be able to just click "Edit -> Save" and it will work them out. We've also been capturing SSS ratings for a couple weeks- and you have the ability to add the correct SSS to previous scores if you'd like to edit those as well. As always- comments and feedback are appreciated. This is a pretty major overhaul to our backend system so there could be some bugs. Feel free to let us know when you find those as well. Thanks for the continued support and have a great weekend! [ comments ]

What am I missing. When I try to go to handicapping it sends me to the home page? Are you still working on this? 7/9/10
Yep I've got the same problem as ssllmom, could it just be for addicts? Might just have to become one then. 7/9/10
Sorry sepfeiff, we had to give some love to those across the pond. We have some other features coming similar to new stats towards the end of the month. 7/9/10
Good show. The forums have been rampant with requests for this. Hopefully, there won't be any major bugs. 7/9/10
You just made this the best site on the web! Love it (and on the same day as my brand new little girl was born!!!) 7/9/10
DIC, congrats on the kid, nothing like becoming a parent. Expect to start seeing that handicap trend in the wrong direction. 7/9/10
Hey congrats DiC thats awesome!!! I think this just turned into a new baby thread. 7/10/10
Thanks klangdon. It's our 2nd (1st, little boy, is now 22 months) so think my golfing activity will now drop off altogether! haha Seriously, great work on an already awesome site! 7/10/10
@sepfeiff... whoops, sorry. Just to keep it on topic then... urm, now with 2 kids under 2 I think my HANDICAP will probably remain the same as I won't have to get out there and play enough golf to affect it? right... carry on, I don't think anyone noticed ;) 7/10/10
Great to see the beginning of stableford/congu, but the calculation doesn't seem to be working quite right yet? I put in some more comments in the forum-post. 7/10/10
blairblair, its as big a surprise to us as it is to you, had no clue until just now. 7/10/10
The support for Golfcard / oobgolf has got to be sorted out otherwise this whole iPhone app and site is useless to me. What a waste of money!!! It used to be all so good. 7/10/10
Paolo, this is decision done by GolfCard without interaction with oobgolf, we are VERY surprised. We will do whatever we can to help make this site useful for you going forward. 7/10/10
My mistake, I thought oobgolf & golfcard were one of the same. Golfcard have royally annoyed me and quite a lot of others I by the looks of it. I will keep using oobgolf as it seems to be a great site on it's own. 7/11/10

CONGU handicapping doesn't seem to work properly for me. Although my best ever round was a 38 on a par 33 nine-hole course, I usually shoot somewhere between 20 and 24 over. Somehow oobgolf reckons I play off 9.6!! What could be contributing to that discrepancy? 7/12/10
Any possibilty of EGA Hcp system ? I know there are formulas to move from Congu to EGA, but I'd rather have it in the system already. BTW, this is another stupid move from Senygma, by "forcing" everybody to use UShandicap they left out all non-us (potential) customers. 7/12/10
Nojdemo2, we just released a bug fix for the CONGU handicapping related to adjusted max hole scores. See if it makes sense now. 7/12/10
Canadian here... what is the difference between the RCGA and USGA calculation? My handicap just dropped quite dramatically by selecting RCGA - it feels like I cheated! (Can't wait for the new oobgolf iphone app - suck it Senygma!) 7/13/10
The biggest difference between RCGA and USGA is the max score you can take on a hole (ESC). In your handicap category the max you can take in RCGA is a double bogey, while with USGA its a straight 7. 7/13/10

I only played golf in China and with the new system, I was unable to upload my score as before.....frustrated..... 7/14/10
atsai, please send me a private message with more details on what you are experiencing. Were you entering the score from a computer or from another source? Did you get an error? What was the course? 7/14/10
It would be nice to have EGA handicaps calculated but it's moot as we need to register qualifying cards to get an actual EGA hcp adjustment (which is a pain imho). You'll just end up with different handicaps anyway. 7/16/10
I totally agree with all european players (obviously), EGA would be a great feature associated with a correct Stableford points calculation. Continue the great job ! 8/6/10
