The Jackal Golf Club

This Bruce Matthews design opened in 2001. Built on and around a local ski hill (Mount Brighton), the course has some dramatic elevation changes. At 6,687 yards (72.7/139 rating) one might view the course as short. However, there is plenty of trouble waiting for the errant shot so one better hit it straight. Three additional set of tees allow one to modify the degree of difficulty. The ski area does not intrude on the golf but playing along side ski lifts and snow making equipment sometimes adds a surreal touch to the experience. One needs to play the layout a few times to understand the effects of the elevation on shots and to know the proper targets on the doglegs. The par 3 9th (257 yards / 180 foot drop) is a lot of fun.

Horrible place and shouldn't be considered a golf course. This place is like the course from caddyshack II.

The Jackal is a unique experience. It's quite a nice wooded/marsh course away from the ski hill. On and around the ski hill...hmmmm. In my book, hitting down a ski hill is kinda gimmicky, especially with crazy wind. Many greens are pretty tricked up. At $30 with cart, it's a great value -- though all the non-golf parts of the course are pretty run down (cart paths, bridges, clubhouse, ski equipment). Bring your own water -- the cooler spigots were DISGUSTING!

Love The Jackal, it is built on a ski resort and several holes are actually played on the ski slopes. First hole tees off from the top of the highest hill and probaly has a 500 foot drop to the fairway. One of the most unique courses I've played anywhere.
