Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club

Dan Maples designed all 27 holes at this semi-private club, including 40 acres of lakes and water hazards, which also host various wildlife. Maples also designed an underground storm drainage network to cope with heavy rains.

Rates range from $64 (May-September) to $88 (March-April) and include a cart. Memberships are also available.

Played twice this week. Dealt with some slow play the second time around, but the first round had no trouble. It's a great course with a ton of water to deal with. It's challenging but fair. The course was in fantastic shape, while others in the area are suffering from the heat. Two courses just down the road have distressed greens.

It's nice but nothing special, Fine as a filler course, but beware S L O W play. Have tried 3 times to play 27 here after noon and never succeeded. Have now given up and play elsewhere during annual visit. Great folks, though.

Great course and friendly staff make this a good play while in the area. Big greens that roll true and fast, with fairways wide open. The only bad thing about the fairways they are quickly becoming brown in a lot of areas, they could loose them if they don't water them better. But other than that, an enjoyable course
