Designed by Houston-based architect Joe Finger, this course opened in 1974 on 200 acres adjacent to Moses Bayou - hence the name. While only 22 bunkers are on the course, water is in play on 12 holes, while ever-present winds add to the challenge. The daily fees (with cart) are $27 on Mondays through Thursdays, then $30 on Fridays, weekends, and holidays.

Bayou Golf Club is Texas City's Municipal Links. And for an small simple working class city it is a pretty good course.
The driving range is generally in good condition while very simple. The putting green is simple but does the job. And the pitching/chipping green is in good shape.
The course does not pose a lot of natural challenges. There is water in various places throughout the course reflecting the coastal character of the area. The water rarely will challenge your play, unless you're really pushing the limits of the course, ala going for eagles.
The course makes up for its lack of design challenges with raw length. The fairways are rarely narrow but even missing them will not ruin your ability to save par on the course.
The front nine is technically more challenge (which says very little) than the back nine.
The scenery leaves plenty to be desired. The front nine usually has you staring off at the highway in the background or dilapidated industrial buildings across the bayou. The back nine is better instead just disappearing into Texas brush and normal field growth.
The service and generally laid back attitude of the staff of the club make up for any misgivings of the course.
For a very affordable gold experience in a laid back blue-collar town you can't ask for much more than Bayou gives you.
