811 E 41st St Austin, TX 78751-4326 www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/han... 512.453.0276 Established in 1899, Hancock Golf Course is the oldest golf course in Texas. Located in central Austin, this par-35 9-hole course is a challenging layout with numerous carries up and down hills and over a beautiful creek that meanders through the course. The old course is relatively short by modern standards, featuring small, well-manicured greens that are typical of the era in which it was built. The first site of the Austin Country Club, the original course had sand greens and 18 holes. The noted teacher Harvey Penick started his professional career at this location and remained with the Austin Country Club for over 70 years. Walking saves a $21 cart fee from the rates shown below. Average Hole Difficulty
Not a bad little 9 hole course. The oldest course west of the Mississippi challenges you off the tees for holes 1-5. Everything is either way up hill, down hill, or forcing you through, over or around trees. 6-9 is mostly grip it and rip it. Good times. Your Review
