San Luis Rey Downs Golf Resort

This attractive William F. Bell design dates to 1963 and plays to roughly 6,750 yards of terrain in the San Luis Rey River valley. A hotel and teaching academy are also on-site. The club recently added two new sets of tees; the green tees are specially tailored for junior players.

Old Blue = New Black
Old White = New Blue
(new set) = White
Old Red = New Yellow

The standard walking rates are $34 Mondays through Thursdays and $36 Fridays; carts are $10 on weekdays. Carts are mandatory on weekends and holidays; the rates are $54 on Saturdays and $47 on Sundays. Sliding twilight rates are offered.

Decent course in North San Diego county. Has some challenging holes, nice long fairways, the course plays almost 6800 yards from the back tees. My only complaints have to do with too many trees that create challenge on some holes, but neuisance on others. There are several holes where the trees are just too much and make it impossible to hit, even for straight shooters. Other than that, it's a good course, worth the money and the drive from San Diego.
