I am moving into Shadowridge and went over to play the course to see if the Club was worth joining. From what I had heard, it was one of the cheapest clubs in San Diego county. If you live in the area, and can afford a couple hundred bucks a month for the green fees, then join this club. They don't do much, its not a resort club, but for the money, the service and golf is excellent.

Initially, I was very unimpressed with the rough, I couldn't even tell what type of grass it was and there were many areas that needed to be reseeded. When I played, however, it was during a more dormant time for us here in SD County, but it needed a little TLC

The fairways were excellent, with a little bit more water, they could be just as good as Torrey Pines, and that ISN'T a stretch.

The greens... it just so happens that they had JUST aerated the greens 2 days before I came to play, so I couldn't get a great judge of the greens in. I was however, impressed at how well they rolled for only being 2 days after a full punch

For what it costs to play Pebble or Torrey one time, you can pay the green fees here each month. So the design of the course certainly wasn't epic, but I wasn't expecting it to be. It wasn't award winning or pushing any kind of envelope, but, it was certainly enjoyable. The view from SOME of the holes was panoramic of the surrounding mountains, but it wasn't breathtaking on every hole.

For the price however, it's difficult to beat for a full scale country club. The clubhouse's interior was in good shape and the card rooms were plush and comfortable. It was slightly outdated and small. 20 million dollars for a clubhouse renovation and a little TLC on the course would make this club right on par with many of the other excellent club's in San Diego.
