1500 Country Club Dr Milpitas, CA 95035-3456 summitpointe.americangolf.com 408.262.8813 This course is best known for providing some of the best views of the Silicon Valley. The front nine is hilly, so expect some uneven lies. However, the fairways are somewhat open compared to the narrower ones on the back nine. The terrain on the back nine is flat, but water hazards come into play on some holes. The greens are fast and slightly sloped. Water hazards come into play throughout the course. The signature hole is #16, a 199-yard, par 3, which calls for a tee shot downhill over a water hazard and into a prevailing wind. The green on this hole slopes from back to front, and right to left. Average Hole Difficulty
This course can be and has been a much better play with 2 minor changes. Grow the grass longer, everywhere!!! Fairways, greens and even the rough are way too short. Greens unfair, if it's not in, it will roll off the green on many holes (on uphill puts too!). Fairways, ball sits on dirt, not on a nice layer of grass. Finally, I know courses are hurting, but overbooking and whimpy marshals are not the answer. Keep pace of play moving. This course has some really great views of the surrounding valley. Because it is up in the hills, you get some really funny downhill, uphill, sidehill lies (even in the fairways and tee boxes). The back 9 has lots of water in play (especially for righties who slice). The difficulty level may be high for high handicappers, but is rewarding in its own way. I would play here again. played this course with Deitcigs and company May 23, finish with 4 hour and 40 mins or so. This course is very tough for high handicappers, with gusty wind, uneven green and fairway. even tee boxes are mostly uneven. so you have to play a lot of shots feet above ball or ball above feet. the grass at tee box is very shallow. i sometimes don't use tee, so a bit fat, the shot was well short. admitted, i should have make it easier tee it up more often. but i was thinking getting better feeling to play shots from fairway. Also without riding cart, it's kind of very exhausted walking the hilly course. Your Review
