Pit Golf Links

For the moment, The Pit's web site and telephone number are not functional; the course has changed ownership several times since then, most recently in February 2011 when the Dedman family purchased the course for an undisclosed price.

The Pit was designed by Pinehurst native Dan Maples and opened in 1985 to rave reviews. Among the accolades are Golf Digest ranking it in the top 50 public courses in the U.S. and top 10 in North Carolina.

This is a great Links course. Will test you from start to finish. Greens and fairways are always in great shape. Great thing about this course, it changes halfway through the season. They let wild stuff go wild and it gets harder at the end of the season. Know how to hit around trees? Better learn to play this cerebral assassin.

The Pit is a wonderful track, always in excellent shape. From tight fairways to wide open. This course will test your thought process as well as your clubs. Small greens means you must be accurate, if not you will be in the junk. Great clubhouse and a courteous staff. Makes this a true joy to play and visit. A must play in Pinehurst.
