3720 4th St Lubbock, TX 79415-5346 www.TheRawlsCourse.com 806.742.4653 This is the home course for the Texas Tech University men's and women's golf teams. Tom Doak is well-known as a traditionalist / "minimalist" architect, but here he and his design firm moved more than a million yards of soil to sculpt a rolling landscape out of a flat cotton field near the TTU campus. The course web site quotes Doak as saying, "the Red Raider course is probably the most complicated we've done to date." The course is named for donor Jerry Rawls, a 1967 alum of Texas Tech. Rawls' interesting story is that after he completed a B.S. in mechanical engineering, he earned an MBA at Purdue University, which is home to two courses and is where Rawls began playing golf. As a gift to Texas Tech, Rawls helped spearhead the development of this on-campus course, which now houses Texas Tech's turf management program. Course Details
