Valance Park, Brasted Rd Westerham, G5 TN16 1LJ www.WesterhamGC.co.uk +44 01959 567100 This parkland-style course was born out of an unforgettable event - the Great Storm of October, 1987 that most British forecasters and meteorologists botched. When the storm was over, this land in Kent became more receptive to a goal course, which opened in May of 1997. Visitors and societies are welcome on weekdays, the visitor walking rate is £38 Mondays through Thursdays, and £45 on Fridays. Course Details
Average Hole Difficulty
The value score of 5 stars should be read in the light of a Groupon voucher which allowed my friend and I to play for £29 (total). It's a beautiful course, but really, REALLY hard! That last sentence can be taken in light of us being not very good at golf, but still, this is easily the hardest course we've ever played. Played course on a membership promotion weekend. I would join if i lived a bit closer to southeast London. The course has many memorable holes and the narrow fairways with overhanging trees offer a good challenge. On no3, the par 5 approach shot that you need to thread between trees about 30 yards wide was one such highlight. The practice facilities are great, including driving range, approach, bunker and chipping facilities. My only complaints, a few of the holes lack natural aesthetics as the planted trees look a bit out of place. The pace of play was very slow on the back nine, but this was probably due to the promotion day. Your Review
