Rookery South Golf Club

This is the original of the two Rookery courses, an 18-hole course designed by course superintendent Chris Adkins, working with 2004 Senior British Open champion Pete Oakley. (In 2012, the club purchased Shawnee Country Club and renamed it Rookery North.) The course features water on all but a few holes.

As with the North Course, the standard rate with cart is $70, although shoulder-season and sliding twilight discounts are offered.

Course was in great shape for March. Very impressive. When the wind is up the course can play tough. 3rd is fun when it plays down wind and try to drive the green. But the 4th into the wind is a bear as the lake really comes in to play. With this weather and $30 you can not beat it.

Met a group of friends at the Rookery and was surprised by how nice the course was. Most of the reviews are right on regarding wide open. There are a few challenging holes but all in all a very nice course.

While spending a long weekend at the Delaware Shore, my golfing buddy and I played The Rookery in Milton, DE. This course is wide open with generous fairways and greens, not many trees, a few holes with forced carries over water, very similar to a links course without the fescue grass everywhere.

Very nice course, wide open and flat. Very good course for a mid to high handicap golfer with lots of room to spray shots and bail out areas.
