One of the most interesting features of Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club is the unbelievable changes in elevation throughout the golf course. With 190 feet of overall elevation change, and the highest elevation point on the course of 260 feet, Florida's Mountain Course provides magnificent views and a 7005 yard par 71 championship design. Golf Course architect Terrill LaGree, known for his work as original project manager/developer of Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, has created yet another gem to add to his collection, but this time it is just a little closer to home. Water comes into play on seven of the eighteen holes and natural sands provide picturesque bunkering throughout the entire course. Five separate sets of tees make Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club in Clermont the perfect fit for any golfer.

Sanctuary Ridge is my new favorite Orlando area course. The designer incorporated the topography superbly, as there are several elevation changes of varying degrees. Further, the course features medium-to-large, undulating, multi-tiered fast rolling greens, which are selectively bunkered or elevated to challenge anyone skilled enough to make the green, or those unfortunate enough to miss. In my opinion, the current condition of the greens shows both the immense care involved in designing the course, as well as the day-to-day dedication provided by the maintenance staff in caring for the greens. If you consider the fact that nearly half of the average player's shots are made on or around the greens, it pains me to say that I believe far too many golf course maintenance teams lack the desire, or knowledge required to properly maintain their greens. At Sanctuary Ridge, you will surely NOT be disappointed in the greens.

The quick highlights of this course for me, are as follows;
-elevation changes
-fast, undulating greens
-mental decisions required to play the course well
-level of difficulty
-professionalism and courtesy displayed by the staff
-value for the money

Take a drive out to Clermont and play Sanctuary Ridge. If you've been bored by the many flat courses Florida has to offer, you'll love the elevation changes at Sanctuary Ridge.
