5700 Terry Fox Way Mississauga, ON L5V 2W2 www.braeben.ca 905.615.4653 This par-72 course is owned and operated by the City of Mississauga and plays to 6,415 yards from the tips. The course was built on the reclaimed site of a former landfill; architect Ted Baker designed this as a tumbling, links-flavored course with few trees, tall grasses and challenging pot bunkers. The name "Braeben" itself is a portmanteau for two Gaelic words, slope (Brae) and hill (Ben). Given the absence of trees, winds usually factor into play, similar to conditions found in the Scottish highlands. Course Details
Average Hole Difficulty
It's hard to rate this course. The holes are good and challenging, but the up and down walk on this garbage heap is tough. There are no mature trees anywhere, but looking out over the city is pretty cool. It's an expensive course but it's in the city... I guess that's how they justify it? Braeben is just ok I would say. Personally I like trees and water and nature. Braeben sits on top of a hill (old garbage dump) and has no trees nor water (only 1 hole). Also, it's links style so to me there are no unique memories...when I try to think of the holes it's all a blur as they are not very unique. I do remember the one hole with the pond...that was the nicest. It was fun to play golf however (but when isn't it! lol). I would go back if my friends went..but for me I prefer other courses....Braeben's sister course Lakeview is very nice in comparison. When the wind is howling watch out!. Nary a straight lie to be seen here at BraeBen but a good challenge. Some lopsided fairways call for local knowledge or you'll end up rolling away, and devilish details like pot fairway bunkers and so acute doglegs will test your iron play. The winds were gusting to 50km/h the day I played and that made it a very very difficult course to play since you had to factor 10-20 yards of R/L or L/R swing in a shot. Made it harder than Lionhead! Worth a trip to play the links style but not sure I'd rush back unless it was a great day. Your Review
