Historic City Park Golf Course

Originally a Tom Bendelow design from 1926, this 25-acre 9-hole course was recently renovated by Craig Schreiner into a par-32 layout with four par-3 and five par-4 holes. Elevation changes range up to 25 feet. It is one of only twenty courses in the U.S. to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tee-times are rarely available at nine hole courses since they can be backed up quickly once people start making the turn (if they are playing the course twice, total of 18 holes) to hit off on number one again, with people just starting ect. Then if you think about some one playing slow, there are only nine holes so the effect is essentially double because you have the same amount of people trying to play as an 18 hole course with only nine holes. As for the fairway on number two, City Park just underwent major renovations. There is a "splash pad" behind the proshop that has been giving them difficulties so work trucks still need to get back there. During construction they placed a gravel road along number 2 fairway and then behind the first tee box, near the practice putting green and around to near the ninth green. This spring, spring of 2009 they are going to reseed the number 2 fairway since construction is done and they are planning on paving the cart path from the number nine green to the pro-shop. I don't like that they don't have tee times. Watch out for the spots of "fairway" that is just hard dirt. What happened to the grass?
