Overall not a bad value in the BR area. Typical ditch running through the middle like all courses in the area, very narrow, a ton of trees, and plays extremely slow on weekends.

Course was also soaked from rain, and did not appear to drain very well.

WOW jl.fuller....you expect a free or discounted round when you skipped out of your turn...that sounds kind of wrong to me...u need to go back to preskool to learn not to skip people...if you seriously think that dumas is better than this place, you are a blind, insane man. dumas is a course that puts about $5 into the place...the oaks is a great place to play. the greens are more like ice because they are so true...yes they are fast, but so, so true...the layout is fantastic and if you want to go play dumas, please...i dont think that any other course wants you to play at their course with that attitude...find a new hobby dawg!!!

jl. fuller must be a knucklehead because I had a great experience @ the Oaks about a month ago. I had not played there before but played there in the morning than played Carter Plantation in the afternoon and the Oaks was in better condition especially the greens. The greens at the Oaks of Sherwood were firm and quick but were in excellent condition(with no bad patches like a lot of greens around here) and putted truer than any greens I have putted on all year. The rates were fair but about $5 too expensive for what you get. The first several holes are somewhat plain but then the course gains character as you go. We got lost on a couple holes(due to a few errant shots) and the members we ran into were very helpful with setting us in the right direction. For the money I would rather play Beaver Creek or Copper Mill, but the Oaks at Sherwood is comparable and more handy to Baton Rouge residents.

Well, I was in the group that jl.fuller jumped in front of at the turn. I heard no one yelling at him. Instead of asking us to go ahead they just took it upon themselves to get on the tee out of turn. Those who play golf know that disrupts the flow of play, especially on a weekend. We let them play through, and they didn't even offer a word of thanks. He would be better off playing at Dumas, as that course is more suited to the way he plays golf. I observed first hand. Sherwood's greens are fast and true, and have always been some of the best in town. If it was so bad, then why was he expecting a free round? The rates at The Oaks are excellent, and the course is in excellent shape. He thinks this course is not up to par with BREC courses - well that speaks volumes about his golf expertise. I guess he likes those 5 hour rounds, no grass, and greens that putt like shag carpet.

Horrible, for the money you would be better off at Dumas or you could even play Santa Maria for the same price! Called the club house on the 8th hole to order lunch, got there 20 minutes later and still had to wait 45 minutes to get a cheese burger..... Then some old lady screamed at us saying we jumped in line, and had to wait our turn to tee off on the 10th! Like it was my fault.... Service was horrible, food was bad, greens were like putting on concrete and the members were assholes. Should have left it private, give it maybe another year and it will shut down!!! One of the worst places I have ever played, the course needs alot of work to keep up with the Brec courses in BR. Do me a favor and don't waste your money or time! After I got fussed at by a member for what was the clubhouses fault, I was so pissed I went and had a talk with the manager. So instead of giving me a free pass or a discount on my next round he just told me that he hopes my next round there is a better experience! HAHA I wont have another round there!!!
