700 Strykers Rd Phillipsburg, NJ 08865-9499 www.TheArchitectsClub.com 908.213.3080 Rather than being a collection of "tribute holes," architect Stephen Kay and Golf Digest architectural editor Ron Whitten chose instead to present "open terrain" characteristics of certain architects from roughly 1885 to 1955. Those notable designers include Old Tom Morris, Alister Mackenzie, Hugh Wilson, Walter Travis, C.B. MacDonald, A.W. Tillinghast, Donald Ross, Stanley Thompson, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., William Flynn, and George C. Thomas. It is generally regarded as one of the best public-access courses in New Jersey. Rates vary by season and include the cart fee and range balls. Course Details

We got out on a Friday at 1:00 for $40---winter rates just went into effect. Course was overloaded with golfers---$40. Course was beautiful. Sand traps were very hard. i played mid-week with a deal off of golfnow.com for 30$ which included range balls but only allowed a single person. I waited on every hole for a minute or two, nothing severe, as expected when playing as a single behind a foursome and a twosome. The biggest downfall of the course was that to keep their greens so fast they let them go almost completely bare and, having rained the day before, caused the greens to become a bit patchy with patches of mud. The starter was great and let me out earlier than expected. Overall defiantly worth the trip and absolutely worth the 30$. Played on 4/18. Hardly anybody on the course prior to 2p. Fairways were in good shape. Looked like the greens were aerated in the past week or so. Oddly with no rain the prior day, a lot of sand traps were muddied. Love the layout acknowledging golf's founding architects. Very Fair course - not overly penal but with enough teeth to be challenging. Several holes that are very interesting designs. We played Architects on Memorial day weekend, expecting to pay the full $110, however they only charged us $75. I think for $110 I would have been dissapointed since I agree with another poster that this is more in-line with $75-80... the greens are fast and the fairways are maintained, but the landscaping around is not (comparing it to Myrtle Beach $100+ courses). I would also recommend playing it but in the offseason or during the week when the rates are reduced. Homage to designers seems to feel mostly like a Ross course. Fairways are good and wide almost resort. Moderate quick greens. Avoid high cost by picking one of many deals out there for this course. There's even lower rates for later in the day. W/d eps twilight are much cheaper. I played the Architects on a weekend so they banged me for the full $110. The course was nice but i didn't see it as a course that should charge premiere rates. It was more in line with a $75 course. I would recommend playing it but in the offseason or during the week when the rates are reduced.
