FROM THE CLUB WEB SITE: Cape May National Golf Club is one of the most natural golf courses ever built. Nicknamed "The Natural", the course surrounds a fifty acre private bird sanctuary. Cape May National started a new trend in environmental sensitivity in course design while providing a classic turn of the century golf course that golfers love. In fact, Cape May National goes back to its roots to the late 1800's and its predecessor, Cape May Country Club. The course surrounds one of the largest private bird sanctuaries in the state of New Jersey. There are no houses - Pure golf at a championship level, one of the most beautiful locations in the state. I play this layout a couple of times each summer. Always in good condition. A little pricey but its a shore area course so that's "par for the course" My favorite course in the south, south Jersey area. Good deal on a weekday. No one in front of us. Moved along nice. Not a typical shore course. Fairways are tight and tree lined for the most part. 1 or 2 tricked up holes (3 & 4 from the blues) but course was in good shape. The Semi Private Cape May National Golf Club is a challenging and delightful course. The course layout is wonderful; a good mix of blind shots, water holes and birdie opportunities. The fairways and rough were in great shape but recent heavy rains prevented the grass on the tee boxes and the greens from being as short/fast as I would expect form the hefty $85 weekday greens fee. Pace of play was a little slow because of soggy ground (cart path only) but otherwise we were the only ones on the course at 8am. The staff was friendly and helpful. I look forward to playing there again when I return to the Jersey Shore next summer. Your Review
