Crash,

A Stack and Tilt swing method might work for your Over the top issue. It has straightened out my inconsistency very simply from the first time I TRIED. It's a fun thing to practice if you're up to it. Seems a very consistent swing, as long as I remember to keep the "football" swing path rather than the "basketball" (circular) swing path and it's very reliable. Just a thought, but I expect it could help you be more consistent.

short game bible out from your local library. The majority of the book isnt helpful, but the first few chapters where he talks about getting three swings for each wedge (3/4, 1/2, and 1/4) has been invaluable to me.

So far I only have the 1/2 swings down, but now I have confidence over any shot that is 105 (1/2 PW), 80 (1/2 Gap Wedge), and 65 (1/2 SW). This has made a huge difference as before I would just be guessing from 125 in.

I will piggy back onto this one. I spent about 6 weeks on the practice range this summer while recovering from an injury, doing nothing but working on 3/4 and 1/2 swings with my 9I, PW, AW, SW, and LW. Prior to the changes, I was shooting anywhere from 83-90 each round. First round back onto the course was an 83, followed by 78 75 79, and 9 hole scores of 35 and 36! That practice time will end up being irreplaceable as I now have essentially 15 yardages with just those 5 clubs. Confidence has never been higher, because anything inside of 150 I have a shot for now. I would estimate it shaved 4 shots off my game. I also did extensive putting practice which has helped a ton too. Probably another 3 strokes.

As a side note, I did not get this out of the short game bible. It was an article by Ted Sheftic in Golf Magazine. The concept is similar. The key is to find your "times" and the distances they produce. Basically is it all about distance management. Feel free to check it out. It was a huge help for me:
