Birthday's coming up and I was thinking about asking the wife for the new Sky caddie SG5. Any feedback on the quality/ reliability of this unit?

While a sky caddie is definitely a nice device to have, and I can definitely see the benefits of having one, I still think relying on the yardage markers and good ol eyeing it are some of the few challenges left in golf nowadays.

I have the SG5 and it's awesome. It really will save strokes and speed up play. Golf is hard enough without having to guess at yardages. You ever hit one flush and come up a club short? Yeah, it wasn't the wind. It was the wrong club. How about the distance to carry a trap or how far it is to your lay up?

Mine has been beat up and dropped and had beer/water/gatorade spilled on it and it just takes it. It's a solid unit.

SG-5 is expensive and requires yearly membership.
I found the Golf Guru online for about $250. Best of all, no membership fees. And it will not only give accurate distances and green reads, but it will track shot distances, score, FIR, GIR.
I love it and it has dropped my index from 22.5 in
February to just over 16 today.
