I'd prefer to wear ankle socks. Unfortunately my clubs' dress code states that when wearing shorts you must wear knee high socks (any colour, think old style Scottish golf) or calf high plain white socks.

IMO it looks very dorky so I generally stick to wearing trousers.

I wear "X Socks" which sit mid calf and are designed for wearing on a certain foot for each sock, ie; particular sock for right foot and one for the left. They are extremely comfy and available in white and black.

JoxSox are the best socks i've every worn. I tried them at the golf show a couple years ago- and would LOVE to find them in a store sometime. I know TONS of people loved them- as they came back the years following just to find them.

how the heck are ankle socks girly. socks that go above the ankle make you look like a dork.

Sorry to hear about your dress code. That is an odd standard to conform to. If I were a member I would do it though I suppose. But since I play on munis I wear below the ankle socks. Once in a blue moon I'll wear some dark gray ankle socks for a cool sporty look.
