Been back for nearly a week, but here's a mini-review:
"The Old Course" at The Homestead was interesting, but to me not quite worth the money. The only thing that made me feel a little better about paying $160 for the round was that multiple presidents have played there. Sure, the course was very well maintained, but what irritated me most was the lack of yardage markers. Most high end courses (and some low end) are so well marked that there's no need for a GPS. On The Old Course, there didn't appear to BE any sprinkler heads, and they didn't have any markers other than the small 200, 150, and 100 pins ... and those pins were so small that they were sometimes missed. And, unfortunately, the course was not available on my phone's GPS app. There was a lot of distance guessing on that day .. more than I'd prefer.
The play on the course was sneaky hard. It's a shortish course, but the elevation changes and utter lack of a flat lie make the course very challenging.
