It's about time now that Android has surpassed the iPhone in market share. For the sixth consecutive month, Android was the only OS to gain market share.

in my opinion Freecaddie is without doubt the best GPS golfers aid ...even surpassing devices like the Sky Caddie.
it may not be as useful as Oob in a community sense,
but will run on any device that has a GPS, does have need of a phones data plan, and will even work in airplane mode.

his Android version is fantastic.
it searches automatically for courses in the current area and downloads them immediately for use.
all the courses are free, and unlike OOb has thousands of UK courses already mapped.

OOB does not have any of my local courses actually mapped, and were I want my local course of Fishwick Hall,
I would have to do all the work myself with the Golfcard Manager.

on Android Freecaddie can also display live maps (but this would entail a small Data usage)

the developer is a guy called Dave Kincaid from San Diego and to my mind should charge far, far, more
for his fantastic product.

ps:
you may have spotted that I am a great fan of Freecaddie ?

@carkev, it sounds like you are confusing GolfCard with the oobgolf app. GolfCard doesn't have many european courses and does use GOlfCard Manager. The oobgolf has most European courses mapped, including Fishwick Hall.

thanks for that ... you are quite right,
it is Golfcard I have tried and because of the links thought they were one and the same.
I will certainly try Oobgolf itself now as I am always on the lookout for good apps.

I am getting a new phone in the next few weeks, and the oobgolf app maybe what finally makes my decision for me. I have verizon and now have the choice between the Iphone and the Droid. How is the Droid app coming/working.

I have one slight problem with the Android App. I really wish you could enter scores without having to be connected online or within cell phone service. For courses that are in state parks or the forest I can't get cell phone service and this app is useless. Other than that I love the app!

Plus I would really like to purchase the GPS feature for the phone but since a lot of the courses I play don't get cell phone service there is no point.
