Should Phil have gone for it?
Yes. No one is going to remember who was 2nd.

Probably yes. If Phil is so talented what better time to display his talents?

Probably no. Phil has a lot of bills to pay and locking down that 2nd place money was the smart move.

No. Do you know how much those Callaway balls cost? Better to save it for another day.

Laying up and hoping to hole-out for a tie is pretty lame. Like Phil needs the money!

Laying up is the smart thing to do in this case. What's the alternative, risking water and getting into T3 territory with Dustin (or even worse)? At least he gained ground to the number 1 position on the world ranking and he got himself into a reasonable starting position on the fedexcup list.

Hindsight is 20/20 - I would have waited until Bubba putted. He makes it, I go for it. He misses, I lay up. Phil must have believed there was no way he could hold the green. I think getting there was no issue. I also really believe Phil thought he could make his third shot!

I wish he had gone for it, but after reading how he felt about the lie he had, I think he made the smart play. I think he had already psyched himself out of going for it when he saw the lie and an attempt could have been disastrous.

I don't think he cared one way or the other about the money. He felt his best chance to eagle the hole from where his drive ended up was from 70ish yards out. If that's what he felt, considering how close he came to making it, I believe him.
