Hi,

am using this site and my iphone for last couple of weeks and the integration between the two is sweet - works really well for me.

However, like many other UK/Irish/Euro golfers I guess, a big functionality gap for me is that the site doesn't cater for the Stableford scoring system (as far as I can see) and also won't let me set my own handicap.

I like having the oobgolf calculated handicap - but for this site to be fully functional for me I'd need to be able to set my own handicap for a round, and have oobgolf calculate my stableford points based on the indexes for each hole on the course.

GolfCard is doing this for me at the moment - but I'd really like to see the info on oobgolf.

Any idea on if/when this will be available?

cheers,

Noel.

I can't say an exact date. But development has started on this and it definately will be done by end of the summer, hopefully sooner.

I can't find a Stableford score available in my Scores, though it seems to have been promised a year or so ago? Is it still not available?

Stableford scoring and handicap are still not available. Its still on a list of items we want to implement this season, but it did get bumped by other priorities last season.

Two official handicap-systems in Europe (EGA & CONGU) are regulated by stableford-points.

Therefore everybody here counts stableford, and several competitions are also based on stableford.

A bunch of my friends have looked at joining oobgolf, but found it unusable since there is no stableford-support.

I understand that there are priorities on where to take oobgolf, but Stableford is a must-have for European golfers.

Hope you can get this into the system soon, so I can be joined here by more of my golfmates.

The 1st version of CONGU and RCGA support went live today. You can change your account settings here:
http://oobgolf.com/golfers/handicap_settings.php

We are not yet setting these based on member locations as we want to work out the last set of issues over the weekend. These handicapping systems and rules are crazy complex, so we will appreciate anyones help in identifying potential problems in our implementations.

Great to see the beginning support for stableford with Congu! o/

The calculations however, seem to be quite off?

It's not so easy to check it directly, as points are calculated in the background and not shown on each hole/round.

But it seems to me that it's something tricky in scoring 9-hole rounds?

Feel free to contact me if you want help in locating this.

Cheers Smile

There are two possible issues with 9 hole scores:

1) USGA handicapping uses a 9 hole course rating which is usually a number about half the rating of a 18 hole course. However CONGU uses a SSS for 9 hole scores that is very similar to an 18 hole SSS. The problem occurs when switching between the systems. For example if you enter a score while in USGA mode the course rating or SSS will get cut in half. The when you switch to CONGU your handicap will be in corrected increased for each of these 9 hole scores. The work around for this is to edit all of your 9 hole scores after switching systems( and not to keep switching back and forth)

2) oobgolf is beginning to support CONGU but have not yet started to tackle Stableford. The only exception is for this one qualifying 9 hole score rule. Note this doesn't apply for anyone in category 1, for them 9 hole scores are ignored. CONGU formula for 9 hole scoring is to take (adjusted gross - SSS/((9 hole par)*2)). But they later state that 18 stableford points should be added to the score, to make adjusted gross equivalent to an 8 hole adjusted gross . We took this to mean that we should assume par (2 points per hole) and thus compute adjusted gross by (9 hole adjusted gross + par). While the seems pretty crazy to us we can't find a different way to read that rule.

We just released a fix for CONGU handicapping that includes:

1) max score per hole to calculate adjusted gross score was using double bogey, when it should have been NET double bogey.

2) 9 hole scores it was calculating using 2 stableford points per hole, but was not basing those stableford points on handicap

thanks for the quick and prompt fix Smile

also of note is that the maximum _official_ male congu-handicap is 28.0 not 28.4, but it's quite normal to also unofficially calculate handicaps from 28.0 - 36.

looking forward to stableford-points pr hole/round as well + EGA (luckily not as complicated as congu)

keep up the great work Very Happy

Here in Germany we have to start with a handicap of 54. Therefore it would be nice to allow values between 36 and 54.

Thank you!

I know Stableford scoring is a feature users have requested for quite some time now, but we still haven't build the capability yet. It's not because we don't want it, rather it's a lack of development resource right now. I do hope we can offer the feature in the near future but I can't provide you with any timeline.

Thanks for your patience.
