It's my first year here after moving from Sioux Falls SD. Grew up golfing frequently in high school in the late 80's until I graduated in 91. Had a few slow years of playing only 2-5 times a year for several years. For some time I was not much of a score keeper for sanity reasons. Played a lot of best ball and used as a stress relief by shooting for one good drive, one good layup and one good put.

In 2005 I wanted to get a little more serious. I had learned using regular length clubs on my 6ft 5in frame. I did not want to fork the cash over for Callaway or Taylor Made clubs and wound up building myself a set of clones. I switched out my Big Birtha 454cc clone for the one I have now. While I'm satisfied with my long game my goal (with the exception of my hybrid which I can't hit anything with). My time to play golf over the last several years dwindled and now my fiance encouraged me to start again by asking for a set of clubs for herself. I don't know if she'll like it so I bought her a starter set and a few new things for myself.

My goal this year is to track my score and develop my game. Probably play best ball while I get her started but still play my ball all the way through. (depending on course traffic). My putting has also slipped to horrible performance over the years. Overall I hope to improve my mid and short range game while getting my fiance interested in it as well. If all goes well, we'll get a membership and maybe 2 new sets of higher end clubs next year.

I know right, I used to love winter when I owned snowmobiles and raced them. Now that I don't, I side with the majority saying let it go. Last week my father up in South Dakota talked one of his friends that runs a golf course into opening up holes 7 and 8. They drove a few balls up to the green but stayed off them. I'm jealous, oh well. I'll be busy refreshing myself on the basics of the game and getting my fiance and 16yr old daughter prepped for spring. Got a trainer to go beat on in the yard till then.

Corey, have you played at Wild Horse in Gothenburg? How about other dunes-type courses around central Nebraska?

I haven't yet but I bookmarked it.Wink There is a new course to the south of town being built and scheduled to open this summer. Awarii Dunes Golf Course http://www.awariidunes.com/ is the talk of the area as the next exclusive place to play for miles.
