Can't believe there isn't a thread for this already.
I carded a very good score for myself this weekend, a 5-over par 76 from the blue tee at the Dyker Beach course of Brooklyn. (It is my home course.) Went out in 38 and came back in 38. No birdies, five bogeys, 30 putts. It's my second lowest score ever.
What's funny about the round is that I didn't feel all that great over the ball all day. I'm still sore from a run the other day, my swing lacked pop and I struggled to get the ball properly up in the air and was weak toe hooking so many shots. Plus in the windy cold air the ball was hardly going anywhere. I only hit 7 greens and hit several crappy putts, leaving a few makeable ones short. Since I couldn't get comfortable over most shots, I got a little anxious down the stretch trying to keep the low score intact, and worried too much over how I'd finish the last few (tough) holes, instead of playing aggressive, one-shot at a time mentality.
Good god, what went right then?? I guess regardless of contact, I hit it straight at the target with the long clubs, never hit one out of play and chipped it unbelievable. There were no spectacular soaring shots and it wasn't all that exciting; satisfying though, since I kind of ended last season with a little slump. It's good to know that I can put together a pretty good score even with a scratchy swing.

Congrats, sounds like great golf, and good to hear you are finally getting some golf-able weather up there.
I got in a round today which was pretty pleasant day in SC. I had typical good hole/bad hole deal happening. 45 on front (about my hcp). It was slow and crowded, so at the tee on #10 we decided to skip the wait and play the front nine again. I again carded 45. I'm happy not too many disasters but I made a mess of some of the par 3's.
The cool thing today was my pal Scott who hadn't played in a while and was starting off rusty. I thought he might blow a gasket after the first few holes double triple triple, but he kept focus and brought it around by the end of the front 9 with a few pars. Then on the replay of the front nine he was a different guy. He hit every fairway, and most of the greens. He went 51/40.

If I would have been able to watch myself golf yesterday it would have been like watching a cat shovel shit with two broken paws, painful to watch yet I couldn't look away. My first outing in 3 years and first visit to Buffalo Ridge Golf course. A nine hole public course, not a very difficult course with sand traps a bit out of the way and no water hazards. Only hazard were the yards next door and an area where one home owner used the course as his personal driving range, making it difficult to find your ball amongst all of the balls he hits onto the course. I've maybe golfed a dozen times since 2004 max. Since then it has been pitiful to watch my game slide to such a horrific level. Gone is my 250-300 yard average drive. I have decent control off the tee box hitting it in decent areas of the fairway, but I crack it with all the power I have and the longest drive yesterday was probably 187 on a Par 5, pathetic. I mean It felt good, went off the tee with a nice trajectory but no omph. My long game is a mess, I have a 3 and 5 wood driver that I cant hit over 100yds and a Hybrid fairway driver that won't get the ball off the ground. Once I'm inside 150 I had no problem laying up on the green and usually two put. I'm going to go see one of the local course pros on Wednesday for part of a six session lessons to help me get back into the game and then I'll try playing 18 on that course the same day. End score for yesterday was a 48 on a par 36 course.

Good hole bad hole, I know about that too.
I feel your pain.
I shot a 104, which is 12 strokes better than my best score on this one course, but oh boy was it a weird day.
Open with a par, then shoot an 11, then par, then a 9 on a par 3.
I shot 5 pars
7 Bogeys
2 double bogeys.
So 14 holes, I'm 11 over.
The other 4 holes 37 on 16, 21 over
11 on par 4
9 on par 4
8 par 5
9 par 3
Ouch or what.

Thanks!!!
Around here it doesn't feel like winter anymore, but on the other hand don't feel like spring either. It is unseasonably cold with a lot of rain and wind. I have a feeling the weather's going to suck all year. But at least we can play now.

I played a scramble saturday. Unfortunately didn't get out to play an actual round on the weekend so no score for me. The scramble was fun. I was hitting the ball extremely well despite the wind. Chipping was fantastic. The rain put a huge damper on everything. I was in a group of 3 with two older members. They just couldn't hack the cold and rain. i don't blame them. We teed off on 2 and were finishing 16 when the light rain hit. After that it just started to get worse and worse. Cold, maybe 40 degrees or less. High wind and rain. By 18, picture the Bishop's round during Caddyshack. They were literally getting blown over with their umbrellas. They told me they'd had enough. I played the last hole (1) by myself and bogeyed with a 3 putt. It's pretty hard to putt when your whole body is shivering uncontrollably LOL. Posted a score though. 3 over 74. It's tough to get under par when you're the only one who can reach the par 4s in 2 shots. haha

Totally reminds me of my round yesterday. I mean, I have all of this fancy golf gear that I spent a whole bunch of money on, but I found out yesterday that none of it keeps my neck warm. So I put on a hoodie...totally inappropriate golf attire, I know. But I couldn't swing with the dang thing covering my neck. So I pulled the hood down just before every shot, and then I got to feel like a Jedi walking off all the tee boxes.
That, and I was constaly having to clean the snow off my spikes to keep from slipping and falling on the greens.

Shot a 93 on Sunday at Pelican Point, made my first eagle (25 foot putt of the fridge). My playing partner also eagled the same hole. First time I ever seen that happen.
Played a 4 man scamble yesterday and not one person in my group could hit an iron shot. We had 2 GIR's for the 18 holes.
Going play Kiva Dunes in Gulf Shores on Saturday. It's not to often I get to play 3 times in one week. It's been a good week.

First of all, congrats on the 1st eagle - hope you grabbed a cold one while you were in the "fridge"
As far as 2 eagles on the same hole in the same group, that is one I have not seen, either. Coaxing 2 birdies out of the group on the same hole is rare for the people I play with!

My golfing partner's favorite golfing story (I never tire of hearing it, either, because he still gets so worked up about it). He was playing in a skins tourney, and there were 4 or 5 holes being carried over. Apparently, he hit is drive to within about six feet of the pin on a 310 yard par 4. He was absolutely stoked about it until his opponent sunk an 80 yard wedge shot from the fairway for eagle. Now he has to sink his eagle putt just to carry over the skin for one more hole...and of course, he missed it. And then he proceeded to blow up the rest of the round.
I laugh every time I hear him tell the story.

LOL!!! Just realized I wrote fridge instead of fringe. OOB needs spell check. I have never seen an eagle with my playing partners. The guy I was playing with was a friend but we had only played together once before. He stated he has never seen it either. A round to remember for sure.

I am taking next week off being sick of work, and I am hoping to get at least four rounds in in nine days. One day I am definately not going to be able to play, due to a prior appointment, and I figure at least one day will be a wipeout due to weather, and I will probably want to rest the Sunday before I go back to work. If anyone is headed to central Alabama, and want to play any of the RTJ Trail courses, PM me.

Golf season just getting under way up here in Maine. Played first round 10 days ago and shot 95 on a par 68 track--tee to green I was decent, but had at least 7-8 three putts on a course I rarely play. Played today for 2nd straight day on a short (six par 3's and 3 par 4's all under 220yds) course since my home course is not open yet. Shot 37-36 yesterday (13 over) and today went 35-30 (5 over par). First time ever I have shot par for nine holes with 3 bogeys, 3 pars, and 3 birdies (one a chip-in from 25 feet).
