I play alone. One of very few to walk 18 at the club I play. I am in no hurry during my round. I never look behind me until I hole out. I don't blast my music. I listen to the blues. I will shut it off at the tee box if others are teeing off. I feel more relaxed playing this way. Anyone else do this? I let fellow golfers play through at end of a hole. I write my score and clean my clubs as I use them. I read every putt, approach, and drive. I also use a range finder, repair my ball marks and the threesome in front of me. Repair divots, rake bunkers and toss broken tees in garbage. If I'm waiting to tee off I will dispose of left over tees at the tee box I use.

I've started to notice garbage left around the beautiful course. Last week I pitched up from 76 yards to roll back to the pin only to have my ball change direction from the ballpark someone had failed to repair. Another time I chipped up to the pin, and diverted the ball from a pistachio shell. I walk it in 4-5 hours and respect the course and others play.

I wish others would do the same. 80 has been difficult to break. Been close yet so far away. Golf is one of most mental intense games to play. Please respect all parts of this wonderful challenge. [/b]

Thought I'd respond to your posts individually.

I learned a lot last year playing with a threesome that was quite good. They were in no hurry on the tees or on the greens, but boy did they hustle in between shots. I gotta be honest and say that I actually get annoyed with people who play too fast on the tee boxes and greens. Give me time to write down my score...sheesh.

This might not be a bad idea, to be honest. For some reason, I'm always looking over my shoulder. Perhaps I've been hit with a golf ball one too many times?

I have listened to music on the course before, but only when the course is completely dead. I have to be honest. I get annoyed when others do it. If I can hear your music on the golf course, that means it's too loud. And if you can't hear me yell fore because you have headphones on, that's a problem.

Me too, me too, me too, and me too.

I like having a few broken tees lying around, especially on par 3's. While I always try to leave the course in as good of shape as I found it, I have to be honest when I say the degree to which I take care of the course depends on how fast or slow the pace of play is. Also, when I'm waiting for a group in front of me, I practice my stroke. I learned that little snippet from a group of kids who play on one of the local golf teams. Their coach preaches it. You get a repeating swing by repeating it. So any opportunity to practice my swing is an opportunity I take advantage of.

An entire ballpark?

Okay, people who don't respect the greens annoy me to no end. A pistachio shell on the green is unforgiveable. I loathe people who chew sunflower seeds on the course. Cigarette butts are an unforgiveable sin. And people think I'm weird because I carry a little mini-broom with me for those times when the greens are littered with tree droppings.
