today i played golf a single but was stuck behind a 4 some. there is a bathroom in between the 6th green and 7th tee. the 4 some left the 6th green while i was about 60 yards away. i got up and down for par and then saw three members of the 4 some entering the bathroom. i decided to just jump past them because they were holding me up and there was nobody ahead of them. i saw them just approaching the tee as i left the green of that 7th,a par 3 . is this proper?

well if they weren't up there and you were a single with nobody ahead of them, i don't see why it wasn't proper. Sounds like they had a long time in the restroom though if you finished an entire par 3 while they were in there. I think since the hole was open you were in the right. Just be careful playing through without asking. some people get really angry about that stuff and no telling what could have happened if they came out and had to wait for you while you finished playing through.

You should always try communicating with people. Unless the tee box is completely vacant, it is kind of improper to just play through without letting anyone know first. If no one is on the tee, then go for it.

if no one is on the tee or green, then SWING AWAY!

however if there is, then just wait. i once played in a 4 some on a very crowded day and everyone in the 4 some had to pee. there is only 1 person allowed in the bathroom at a time in the course that i played at that day. while we were releiving ourselves at the bathroom by the 5th tee, not one but TWO groups decided to jump us(one of the groups was a 6 some)and they couldn`t go anywhere because the group we were originally following was waiting to tee off, and so we had to wait for two more groups, and the 6 some did not keep up with the groups in front of them, and they weren`t playing ready golf, so what the two groups gained from jumping us was NOTHING, plus we just had to wait even longer. at about the 10th hole, after another 4+ hour front 9, they FINALLY let us play through. we didn`t have to wait again intil hole 14, but still it was about a 6 hour round. some people are just plain rude!

Sounds like you saw both sides of it player.
I guess now you know you should always ask before playing through, even with a bathroom break for the group in front.

Its harder to get mad if you let someone play ahead.

Although, when you do get to play ahead, dont hit 12 balls off the tee for practice, that happened once, and I almost decided to play LONG BOMB CART KILLERS Smile

If 3 of the 4 went to the bathroom you should have told the 1 who didnt that you were gonna play thru. I dont see the harm in playing thru when you are a single especially on a par 3. But like others said communicate.
