I played in a tournament today and for the first six holes, I was inconsistent off the tee with my driver. One of the guys in our group was using a BRUSH TEE and was hitting his balls straight. I always thought this thing was a gimmick. He gave me one and I used it for the rest of the day. I don't know if it was mind over matter, but lemme tell you, I was in the middle of the fairway for the rest of the game.

Anyone have an opinion, or any experiences with the BRUSH TEE ??

I just dont buy into any of the tee gimmicks. I have never used a brush tee or zero friction or anything, but there can not be any real world advantages to any of them. Except maybe consistent tee depth with the brush thing, but how hard is that to figure out with conventional tees?

Gimmick tees are good for one thing. Making the seller money. I do however use the "Wedge Tee"(tm) because it is indestructable. I can use a single one for months and it reduces the clutter in your pocket and bag. There's always the broken tee on the par 3s.

I used a brush tee for a while and realized that once I figured out how high to tee the ball, I began using the zero-friction tees. They still break but not as often as standard wood tees. 20 tees have lasted 4 months. 60 rounds and countless days on the range.

Brush Tee advertising is pretty good. So is advertising for "How Do You Mark Your Titleist?" Which one makes your ball go further? Which one makes your ball go strighter? Which one helps you find your ball when you hit it 320 yards into a deep swamp, 40 yards to the right of the fairway?

And they lasts about as long as a candy celibacy belt!

The Zero-Friction tees are my choice. They break less. On Brush-Tees...does the average public course have perfectly level tee boxes? Our local courses don't. Some boxes allow the ball to be as much as 2 inches above or below my feet. So why on Earth would I want that ball the same height?
One more thing...one of my playing buddies told me part of my slicing off the tee was caused by how I tee the ball (upright...to fight gravity). He told me I should lean it forward a little "to get it on it's way". Anyone else ever hear this?

Teeing the ball leaning forward reduces the trajectory, giving you a reduced flight angle. Conversely, teeing it leaning backward increases trajectory and increases flight angle.

Damn man, I'm glad I'm not playing at the courses you play at. lol At least around here we keep the tees level.

mmmmmmmm, what makes my fairway woods good straight off the grass, the thin blades of grass....lol
tees have nothing to do with flight or distance... but if it makes you hit them straighter, HIT THEM...
remember this game is all about confidence and believing you can do it, so if brush tee's make you happy, use them.
I use only red and green tees and blue short ones.
don't ask me why they just seem to work better. do I care or know why, no... and if it helps me to hit better shots you can bet I'm going to use them....

Blue-Crush, I just got some red tees and started playing from the Blues...honestly I think you're on to something here, the color may be more important than the style. I shot 1 stroke better than my average after making these two changes. If I find wearing my underwear over my pants will help, I'm doing it!

I'm still off, the glove gets changed or the ball, but someones sitting out the back 9....


heres a thought, make tees out of pretzel dough...
then you have food and a tee, and its biodegradable...
plus the clubhouse sells more beer....
