In all the descriptions and forums it mentions that to add a friend you click on request under the image of the friend you want to add but this does not appear with my account. I only have the option to send a message. What do I need to do to get the option to request a friend back in my account which did work at the beginning of this year. The only way I have to add friends at the moment is for them to request me and then I can accept but also only from the overview page where it gives the option to accept. Let me know if this a bug or just something in my account

I believe this is a one time only option.If you request someone to be a friend and they deny the request then you will never see the option to add them as a friend again.
This prevents people from bothering people with constant friend requests.I am not 100%certain this is true but I am sure oob will answer this soon.

Werepuppie is correct. If a friend request is denied, you will be blocked from sending a friend request in the future. The system is designed this way to protect users. If your friend accidentally denied your friend request, just tell him to add you.

But, if your friend request wasn't denied, you should see the "Add to Friends" link under an users avatar. To test it, search my username and then click my profile in the search results. Under my avatar, you should see the "Add to Friends" link.

I just tested this and it works.
