Membership to the ScratchGolf Fanatics will close on Dec 31st 2008. At that time we will establish a starting "group" handicap average so that we can try and beat that average by an aggressive 10 strokes for 2009.

If we can accomplish this goal and show Oobgolf...that we are doing our part to get Oobgolf closer to par....I wonder if they will feature our group????

We could also take suggestions from group members on awarding "small" prizes or tokens to the most improved handicaps for 2009.

If you need lessons.....go get them because the members of this group are serious about lowering their scores for 2009. Quit being a HACKER!

I've been working on dropping my own handicap. I gave myself a difficult but realistic goal of 1 stroke per month this year and .5 to 1 stroke next year. My goal is to be a scratch golfer by 2010 (3 years from the time I took up this miserably fabulous game).

I think that it is important to set realistic goals when achieveing anything in life. If you look at my handicap average over the last three years I have averaged about 4 strokes a year.

Keep in mind that the more you play and post scores, the faster your handicap rises or falls depending on your game plan of lessons, going it alone.....etc to improve your game prior to ever getting on the course.

Also, keep in mind that the ScratchGolfFanatics group goal of decreasing our "group" handicap average by 10 strokes or more...is very acheiveable based on the sheer numbers and demograhics of our membership which includes handicappers as high as 15.

We will really be depending on all the 15-12 handicappers to really put forth a big effort in trying to shave strokes off their game for 2009 and any gains made by the 12-10 handicappers down to a 0 handicap will be gravy.
