That what she leads you to believe now..., though to be fair, for over a year now my wife has not given me a dirty look and has actually encouraged me to play every week that i can (usually Sunday mornings) and didn't even flinch when i talked about new clubs this spring. of course it took 33 years to reach this point. Good Luck

My wife is the same way, though it didn't take nearly as long. She encourages me to go to the driving range, or to go play golf, when there is nothing else going on, or she is going off with her mom, or to visit her grandmother. She was even happy that I took 2 weeks worth of Tuesdays off last year to play golf.

My goal is loosing 10 lbs. Also walking instead of driving a cart, and drinking water or gatorade instead of beer during my golf rounds. I've been working on this for the las month or so, and it's already showing on the scores.

I'm gonna quit drinking beer, start eating burnt toast, and poke myself in the eye with a frozen carrot.

I ususally have to take off of work at my day job to play golf. Since I still work at my morning job, I leave the house at 2 in the morning and avoid dirty looks... until I get home...

A February update, if for nothing but my own sake... Down to 224, which isn't a huge drop in weight, but like others have posted, there is quite an increase in muscle mass. I'm probably happiest about my face thinning out. Down to 1.5 chins. Bought a set of new (used) MP62's after hitting the 5 iron 215 in the simulator. I really wanted MP63's, but the price on these were too good. The way I hit those makes me pretty confident about lowering the handicap, and even at 4 pounds a month is more than enough to reach my goal there.

OK, so April is half over... The problem is, I haven't played golf yet, so I can't really speak to the more important part of the plan. I went to the range, and was pulling the ball. I realized that I picked up the habit of pulling the club inside on the takeaway to make up for the strength I was lacking. So I brought my backswing back on plane, but I don't know how that'll affect the ballflight yet. In terms of weight, I'm down to 215, so I'm happy about that.

I wish I was at the gym at 0430... I'm still at work then. I get my workout in the small gym they have in the basement of my day job. I'm pretty confident that I'm the only person out of the 1500 that work there that walks in to work with a weighted golf club every day. Depending on the time I have, 15-30 on the treadmill, 15-30 weights, 15-30 stretching/swinging.

Wow... I've really neglected my own thread. I suppose if I had more scores to post, I'd be better about it. Yesterday I finally played 18 holes that wasn't a scramble. My ball striking has never been better than it was for the first 8 holes, starting with the 330 yard bomb off the first tee. One birdie and one bogey left me even for the front. 41 on the back. I just couldn't get up and down to save my life. Anyway, I keep playing like that and make some putts, the handicap goal is definately in reach. The weight is still 215... A combination of adding more muscle and a June that saw me go on vacation for a week where the menu was nothing but beef, Funyuns, and beer. To be honest, it took some work to get back down to 215.
A note to any SE Wisconsin Oobers... I need excuses to play!! Help me out

Hmmm... July to November... Nice.
So, there is no chance I'll hit my golf goal, but I'm not disappointed. My swing looks as good as ever, and my putter is better than ever. Even the short game is coming along. I just can't get on the course to put it all together. I'll probably get a range membership for next year too.
I may miss the weight goal too, but not for lack of effort. I ran 4.25 freakin miles today. Not bad for a guy that could barely run a mile at the begining of the year. I'll probably finish the year at 210, about 4 pounds short. Still a pretty good year. Next year will probably be 10 pounds rather than 10%, but I'm still cutting that handicap in half.

So, I came up short on both, but I'm still happy with the results. End the year at 208. Next year, I'll have the driving range membership I didn't have this year, so I'm expecting big things. Now to figure out the goals for next year...
