"Say what?" I hear you think... yep, a video game. For xbox 360. Just announced: Tiger Woods 13 kinect. See more here.

I was thinking, how far do you think we're away from games like TW13 to mimic a real golf experience?

Right now it still is a game, but one day it may even turn into a real training-tool - how cool would that be! 8)

I haven't tried it on Xbox but I don't think I like this motion controlled gaming. I've played on wii and felt pretty stupid waving the controller around in the air. Playing TW 11 it didn't really seem to matter which direction you waved the controller and that's not fun. I know the xbox version is supposedly way more sensitive and nuanced but still the idea of flailing around in the living room, using your whole body as the controller, that doesn't really feel like progress to me.

The golf simulators like the ones Roger Maltby plugs on TV, that employ launch monitors to measure ball flight, that's probably what you're looking for. There's a couple places here in the city that rent them and I've always been half-interested but never enough to go for it, just imagine myself getting bored after a few holes.

I've been playing a bit of the TW PGA Tour online game. It's pretty good, especially for a web browser-based game. It is old school though, three click style like the computer golf games back in the dark ages.

If the ceiling in my apartment was high enough, I'd have a golf simulator for the winter months.

I know a father and adult son in Iowa who are great golfers. When the father built a new home, they made sure the basement had high ceilings and installed a state-of-the-art golf simulator. The father and son are both scratch and the father qualified for the US Senior Open a year or so ago. Talk about a man cave!

If I ever have the opportunity to design/build an addition to my home, or design/build a new home, there will be room to swing a club inside, as well as the proper setup for a simulator (complete with projector).

I've never tried a golf simulator, but aircraft simulators are so realistic that I was able to take the FAA checkride for my type rating on several jets and the first landing I ever made in the actual airplane was with a load of passengers aboard.

I think i'd rather have an optishot. I don't know if i like the interface of the system. it's more cumbersome than a normal golf swing. Even more so than the wii. You have to make sure you're right on THEIR plane rather than your own, delivering the club square.

I think i'd rather have an optishot.

optishot and P3ProSwing already both work with older versions of the TW video game. I bet someone will make an accurate and affordable simulator add-on for the next generation XBOX kinect iteration of Tiger Woods.

@Merlin - that's impressive. were they drunk?

How much you wanna bet that the airplane simulator you used cost a few bucks more than a typical golf simulator?
