WHO ELSE IS READY TO DECLARE AN EARLY END TO WINTER???
I'm looking at the extendo forecast and seeing a lots of 5's, and 6's. We rode this thing straight through into March my friends. Like I've said, if its true that we are causing our planet to heat up and die then at least we will go down playing a lot of golf.
Fact: I played more golf in the last three months than I ever have.
Fact: I played some of the *best* golf in the last three months.
Fact: I played faster golf than ever.
So I'm in an unusual state of mind. Not angsty and waiting on spring to finally arrive, but actually trying to relish the last few weeks of winter of '12 before the spring brings back business as usual, the slow rounds, the people, etc.

The worst parts about playing in 60 mph gusts of wind:
1) Keeping your feet in the middle of your swing. It's hard enough to hit a golf ball. Try it once when the wind is pushing you over.
2) Walking into the wind on that long par 5. Forget about trying to hit the ball into the wind. That long par 5 feels like two par 5's after walking into a 60 mph wind. |
I also hate when the stand bag gets knocked over, the sound of my nice forged irons mashing into one another.

2. decent golf
3. quicker golf

I forgot to add with spring arriving all "quick play" comes to an abrupt end.
That's when the mental toughness applies.

Very mild winter this year. Only 4 or 5 frost delays of one hour or so. Only two nights of 28-29 degree temps. This week average daytime temps 65 to 75. next Tuesday- Wednesday projected 85 degrees.
Our suffering comes in July, August with 110-115 degree days. Dry heat my fanny. You don't fry, you roast. Still beats the old days with my snow blower up north.
