basic practice today on all clubs. I tried to work on working the ball intentionally in a very precise manner. Started by hitting the wedges in low trajectory then worked into the long irons draw and fade. Driver draw fade hook and slice, then back down. finished up with some draw and fade wedges into the 100 yard flags. "holed" 2 of them. I think i have the most confidence i've ever had with my wedges and driver.

Finally got to the range on Saturday. Just trying to work the rust off and get a rhythm back. Went pretty well. I've got an issue with my right shoulder, though. Slept on it wrong and now I've got a massive knot in it. Hurt like hell when I finished.

Also, finally got to swing my new/used R5 Dual TP. I like it alot. I'm going to have to make a decision on grips, though. The R5 has a thicker grip than my other clubs. I need to decide which I like better and get some re-gripping done.

Or you could try a "rumble roller", lets you use your body weight to apply some serious pressure to those knots. Or even a regular old tennis ball, or two of them in a sock.

I worked on Putting yesterday. spent 45 min. hitting 4 foot straight putts. then put in another 30 min. rolling to different holes on the putting green to work on speed. Still missed 3 legit birdie putts when I played 9. I hate this game sometimes. : )

I use a tennis ball, too. I keep one on my nightstand. It works better than the back buddy, to be honest. Problem is, usually by the point where I realize that the knot in my back is not going to loosen up on it's own, there is no bed between me and my next round of golf....

I hit about fifty range balls today, 3, 6, 9 irons and SW. Probably the best I've ever hit 3 iron. Did not stripe em all, lost some to the right but the contact and flight were high quality. I use a smallish muscleback 3i, so moments like this are pretty special. Good chipping session too. Next time I'll get a pic of the practice green here. It's all artificial turf and its in a parking garage, it is horrible.

Tomorrow I`m playing mini golf with family who`s in town, I guess that could constitute practice.

I need to shore up my putting stroke. It is long and loose and my speed control is shaky. I need to get back to same length back and thru and get back to putting it assertively not defensively.

Golf lesson follow up today from January. The take away is coming along well, but coming over the top now and too much head sway through transition. Got some good instruction. Working on the release which I've been failing to execute properly since the start. It is tough trying to groove the swing changes. Feels like I really need to start twisting my forearms sooner than I have been doing. Up through about 4 iron feeling good (or maybe sometimes getting away with the flaws), but once into the hybrid and driver etc it is magnified and needs work. I know what to work on, and can feel what the results should be like. Need more practice...

I've been spending a lot of time with my wedges, just trying to get a feel for the many different strokes I can hit with them. I have adapted three different lengths for my pitch shots plus a full swing which gives me four different distances with a single club. Then, I can adapt each swing based on the lie by opening the face and moving the club up in my stance to get more control. And the most important aspect is selecting the proper club for those greenside chip shots.

Over the past four days or so, my short game has really started to show an improvement, too. It's really fun right now becasue I'm still not used to the dynamic of leaving those wedge shots close to the pin. I still get visibly excited every time one of my off-green shots gets within the three foot circle.

Had an hour to go over to the practice area at the course closest to me, took my GW,SW,putter and a handful of balls. Just trying to get a little feel while chipping from just off the fringe and out to about 10 yds, not bad results, nothing great either. Then this other guy shows up and starts hitting these beautiful pitches, all stopping within a few feet of the pin and then to make me realize how much I need to work, he proceeds to hit about a dozen shots out of the bunker (which has a 3ft high lip) with JUST his right hand. Off to the putting green for a few laps around it. It was an eye opener to watch someone with that kind of control. I definitely need to work on my short game.

Went back over for another session similar to the one I posted yesterday. Very encouraging, touch coming back. not quite as tight a dispersion as the fellow from yesterday but overall pretty good. On the putting green right I noticed that the toe of the putter was closed just after impact, which explains the left misses, part of the problem I think is my setup ball position too far forward, more work for another day.
Tried some of those one handed bunker shots, not as hard as I thought. Or just lucky

Went yesterday to the range to stretch out and generally re-groove after a week of hard workouts. Worked a lot on my form and alignment. Hit a lot of wedges and long irons. Brought out the big dog, hit a couple of 300yd range balls then went right back to form and swing with the long and mid irons. Had a great session and was nice and limber by the end.
