What are your opinions on name brands vs. off brands or clones? Looking at Louisville Golf or Alpha from a club fitter/builder vs. a name brand iron. Like 'em all but an getting into paralysis by analysis...

There's nothing wrong with off-brand clubs ie: Hireko, KZG, Alpha, Bang. They design their own clubs and have them made but mostly cut out the middleman, saving you money.

I'm actually ordering some new irons (XF Pro 6,7,8,9) from Hireko in the next few weeks...$110 built to order.

I wouldn't touch clones personally, the tolerances and quality isn't there and they're stealing others hard design work.

Here's my take on the Acer XF Pro irons I got...I love them. I had them shafted with FST Pro 115 regular flex shafts. Very smooth in the swing and when struck properly, feels like nothing.

Best $130.00 for 4 clubs I ever spent.

Gotta love it!

It's funny -- some people worry about spending too much, others about spending too little. The first reaction is "what the heck kinda golf clubs can I get for $130? They must be junk!" Keep hearing nothing but good things about Acer/Hireko - to there's the proof right there!

Enjoy the sticks!
