Today I was fitted for new gear. The Titleist rep for our area came down to my home course today to do a fitting for me. I have to give credit to our course manager for helping to set this up. First the rep backs his van up to the range and when he opens it, it is full of clubs, bags, shafts, everything. Helped him unload four bags of clubs and shafts, then he pulls out this hard plastic case, looked like an extra large rifle case, opens it up and it has every conceivable clubhead Titleist makes, both lefty and righty. Finally he pulls out a launch monitor about 1/2 the size of a laptop, He mentioned the company just got it for him, its worth $7k, amazing. For the next hour and a half he has me hitting balls, different shafts, lengths, lofts, you name it, comparing it to my own clubs, lie angle, length, on and on. So after it all will be putting in an order for:

Titleist AP2 irons, 5-PW,+1" length, 2* upright, Dynamic Gold XP S300 shafts, with Golf pride New Decade Multi compound Midsize grips
Titleist 910D2 Driver, 10.5* Diamana 'ilima Stiff shaft, same grip as irons
Got fitted for Fairway woods, they will be later. An awesome experience, best fitting I have ever been through.

Did he leave with the launch monitor, or did you "accidentally" pick it up and put it in your car?

Sounds like an awesome experience! Congrats on the new sticks - let us know how they work out. There's nothing like swinging clubs that are properly fit!

Question - how were you able to arrange a private fitting with the Titleist rep? I tried like hell to arrange a session with the Wilson Rep here in MN -- desperately wanted to get fit for the FG Tour V2's, but couldn't make it happen. Wound up with Mizuno's instead through a pro fitter, but the Wilson experience was frustrating. How'd you manage?

Barbajo, I wish I could say it was because of my amazing personality, but. Actually I guess most of the credit goes to our club's shop manager and the Rep himself. Our Course is a Titleist retailer but because of size and no certified pro, we do not have the Titleist fitting cart or the ability to do fittings, but our manager has created great relationships with all the Company reps for the gear he sells. So once I decided that I wanted to go with Titleist clubs I asked about getting fit and he made a call and set it up. The Rep even mentioned to me that he prefers this type of setting versus Demo/Fitting days, so I guess I'm not the only person he does this for. I'm sorry your Wilson rep couldn't help you, but I'm sure you'll like those Mizuno's, Ive been playing those for years before my decision to go to Titleist.

Sounds like the guy running your pro shop is a real pro, in every sense of the word! Personal service trumps the Big Box stores yet again. Hit 'em long, straight and not too often!
