A couple days ago I watched the top 10 plays on sports center. The last were golf shots from the final round of the masters. #2 was louis oosthazen`s double eagle on hole 2, and #1 was the winner bubba watson`s shot around the trees on the 2nd playoff hole. I don`t get it. How can they call a little wedge shot that lands 12 feet from the hole BETTER than a 270-yard hole-out for a double eagle?

While I agree with you, the shot by Bubba was the one everyone has been talking about all week.

The shot from out of the trees was a very high pressure shot that won Bubba the Masters. In fact it brought him back from certain doom considering where he was.

The double eagle was mostly luck.

Just luck. What do you think Louie was aiming at?
Give him credit for a great shot. He assesed the shot, went thru his routine put a great swing on it and pulled it off.

I agree the double eagle was mostly luck, like any shot that finds the hole from a considerable distance(Nate). The double eagle in the Masters landed on the green a LONG way from the hole, but took a crazy bounce that was just very fortunate for him. You can't practice, or pretend you planned, that.

I would call Louis DE half skill, half luck. Great shots for both men, DE was still better though
