With the Southern CA Golf Ass'n (SCGA), it takes 20 rounds to establish a handicap. Until then a player does not adjust his hole scores. I notice that oobgolf is adjusting my scores allowing only a max of 7 on a hole. The SCGA adjusts the max dependent on the established handicap, ie 0-10 max is 6; 11-20, max is 7;21-39, max is 8 etc.

What is your scheme and why different from USGA?

oobgolf is following USGA handicaping on this issue. It sounds like SCGA might be a little different only in that it requires 20 scores for handicap. USGA requires 5 and uses a max of 20 last scores. Even if you do not have a handicap you still have a max score of 10 on any given hole. Your scores should only adjust to a max of 7 if you have a handicap previous to that round of 10-19.

This page here describes ESC adjustments more in detail: http://www.oobgolf.com/content/site+updates/1-35-Handicapping_Improvements.html

rowlandd2, I just looked at your scores and did not see any ESC adjustments? Is it possible that you are looking at your "Net Score" which is gross - course handicap?

klangdon, you are so right. You are probably wondering what kind of boob you are working with here. I noticed that that line was "net" as I was posting today. It appears my reading is as bad as my driving lately. SCGA uses the best 10 of the last 20.

I also note that you have a "handicap" and a course handicap. SCGA refers to your "handicap" as an "handicap index" and refers to a "handicap" only for a particular course calculated by dividing the index by 113 and multiplying by the slope of the course.
