The etiquette for running over slow groups is to wait until they are on the 18th green. Run them over on the green itself and then dismount and proceed to try to decapitate the miscreants with a 9 iron or wedge. Too bad you were walking.

Shot 87 Sunday. A few big numbers ended up costing me. Also had WAY too many putts. Still encouraged by the way I hit the ball overall, hoping for something in the 70s next weekend!

79. Not too bad considering it included zero birdies, a triple bogey and one complete whiff. I needed to par in the last three to break 80. So that put a little pressure on myself and I wound up needing to 2-putt on the last hole from about fifty feet. I sweated both putts pretty hard but I got it done somehow. Big difference psychically between a 79 and a 80 though I should probably get over that.
Speaking of numbers in this round really I noticed how my golf has matured--I don't try to max out my irons anymore. That is such a hacker way to play, I have finally learned it. But I used to do it. Let's say I had about 150 in, a year ago I would've pulled an eight iron and swung hard trying to prove something. Yesterday I was hitting seven irons from 152, six irons from 163 without hesitation. Just cannot be bothered to give an F anymore. If there's even so much as a slight cross breeze, why try and rip a full iron up into that, putting all that spin on it and what not. I mean who really cares if my iron distances do not exactly impress, dammit I am tired of missing more greens than I hit.

Beef. Maturity is the correct word and the correct approach. As we get older we fight a constant battle to realize that distance has dwindled over the years but more importantly what you hit is just a number. The goal is to hit whatever club is necessary to get the job done. It will eliminate a lot of frustration and increase your appreciation of this grand game.Years ago I was long enough that in match play I would lay up so I could hit first. I felt I could put pressure on my opponent by getting on first. Today I hit everything in my bag to get on some of the longer holes but I am playing well and certainly enjoying myself just about as much.Have Fun!

27 shots on the first three holes really screwed me up. First seven shots of the day I couldn't get the ball off the ground. Second shot on the second hole travelled about three inches. If only I could warm up beforehand rather than over the first three holes.
Still, once I warmed up and remembered to apply and trust the technique the fairways shots were pretty good overall.
No 1-putts but only three 3-putts which is pleasing as the green speeds were very difficult to judge.
So, lots to be optimistic about. I'm sure if I practiced more and PLAYED even more (seriously, it's May, but I've only played 10 rounds this year) I'm sure I could knock at least 10 shots off my scores.

that last post was weird
Today I shot a 2-over par 74 even though I hit just 2 out of 14 fairways. Driving wasn`t great but I was the bomb with the putter.

Went out with my 12 yr old son and we had a great day. I was doing ok going into the last 2 holes, but a triple bogey and a double bogey doomed me. Still, having one of my boys try out his new clubs and make a couple of good hits was worth it.

Our town's 9 hole course is coming around this spring after a disasterous summer of 2011. All the greens were ruined after an issue with the heat and watering. We now have greens with grass on them and hopefully in another month they'll be more of a normal "green".

89. Went to look over the course which is the site of next week's tournament. Shot 40 on the front, maybe one wasted stroke else otherwise was good play for me. Something happened on the back though, just lost it for a few holes a few triple bogeys and then sprayed a drive completely off the map OB, ended with 49 on the back.
