carded an 81 today, overcast, arified fairways, tee boxes, and collars. playing with new irons, and finally got shafts re-done (stiff). few loose shots, score should have been better but took double on 18 when worst should have been par.
Love the new AP2's, hitting them a bit higher than used too but will get used to them. They are very accurate and workable when needed.

BryanK - I live right next to an executive, and they are great for working on new stuff. I have two "games" I used to play when it was open and no chance of backing somebody up.
The first is if you're working on new stuff and want no pressure - play two balls on every shot and use you best one. This allows you to work on new stuff, live practice as it were. But it does take extra time to retrieve the second ball all the time.
The second game is very good for getting yourself ready for a big match. Play two balls, but always use the worst one. It really focuses you to make consistent good swings and decisions. Hit an approach to 5 feet? Good - now go do it again. |
I play the one-man scramble game a lot when it's not busy:) I like the second idea, though. Never even thought of it. But at the ame time, if I hit a really bad shot on the first try, what's the incentive to do it again?

81 felt more like a 91. I was all over the GD clubface, fat, thin, toe. Not sure if I ever hit the sweet spot. Kept standing up on it. Some of the shoddiest ball striking in a while, a lot of unforced errors, I'm talking about wedges from 100 yards. Heinous. I need to shore up my swing and what not. I lag-putted very well though. oh yay. I guess that's how you turn a 91 into an 81. One of these days, I'm going to put it all together and go on a rampage, no mercy. Then you're all gonna be sorry you ever doubted me.

Thursday night. 30+ mph winds. On hole number 7, which was playing to 365 with the wind at our back, the kid I was playing with said, "I'm going for it".
"Your effin' nuts" was my reply.
Well...he talked me into going for it too. He put his drive onto the left edge of the green (and three putted for par). I put my drive into the greenside bunker. That's a 365 yard drive according to the GPS for anyone who is keeping score.
Flash forward to this morning, and my driver had gone south. Big time. Duck hook on every shot. It was hoorible. I've been hitting it crazy-good all year long, and I couldn't even get it to 200 today.
So I stayed out on the course until I fixed it.
I played 36 holes today PLUS hit a full bucket of balls on the range. On the first 27, I carded three pars. On the final nine, I was five over after 2. And I was three over on the final 7 including parring five of the last six.....all of which I missed my birdie putt by under an inch and kissing the flagstick on an eagle chip.
I'm fricking beat right now. Been a very long time since I spent 12 hours on the golf course.

Whoa that`s a lot of work brian
Today I played 18 holes and was actually -2 after 14 holes, but I amazingly lost 8 shots to par in the last 4 holes(bogeyed 15 and 16, then scored a quintuple-bogey 9 at 17, bogey again at eighteen). Came in with a 6-over 78.

Played my first round in about 1.5 months yesterday, and I'm pretty happy with the 103 with which I walked away. I'm playing some pretty consistent (for me) golf lately. I had 10 bogies, which has got to be some kind of record for me. The disappointment of the day was the 10 I had to take on the 11th hole, when I lost not one, but two balls in the brush.
ETA: Scratch that ... the last time I played was a month ago, but I've only played two rounds in the last two months.

shot 88 yesterday, it was slightly windy for the area and time of day (sw florida and early morning), had a decent front nine at 41 but started the back side in double, bogey, double, double, double, birdie. Needless to say pretty flusterating round. oh well I getem next saturday.

Played Sunday, shot 86 with the new clubs, overall pretty happy with them so far, definitely need to hit the range, play some more to get them dialed in. So far they seem to be about half club shorter than my old, which I will attribute to loft differences ( my old clubs were 1 deg stronger) and getting adjusted to them

I was pretty much on fire tonight. If we can somehow manage to ignore the quad on the first hole that I'd sure like to forget, I was -1 the rest of the way through. And that's with a bogey on hole two. Final score was a 36 on the par 33 course.

99 today. erratic. short game was quite poor, but putting was semi-decent, for a change.

Nobody, not even God himself, can ace an 800 yard hole with an 800 mph wind, both of which don`t exist. NOW LEAVE US ALONE AND SHUT UP!
