Just wondering if anyone has ever played a round with caymen golf balls, they only go about 60% the distance of a regular golf ball, with the same flight charateristics. I live on an excutive course and it is fun to go out with a full set and have a short par 4 (315 yrds) play almost like a short par five. Just wondering others thoughts?

If i am not mistaken Jack Nicklaus was a proponent of the Cayman ball. For someone like me the thought of swinging with all of my might and watching the ball go less distance than normal is not my cup of tea. If someone knows of an illegal ball that goes further I might like to hit it if just to bring back fond memories of the past.

I have hit limited distance range balls. They feel pretty much the same coming off the club face but they really do fly only a limited distance. It was sort of fun to watch people hit them and scratch their heads when they flushed a 7 iron 120 yards.

I am with Joe. I do not need a special ball to limit my distance. Wink

What I would spend money on is a magical ball that finds the sweet spot every time.

I had a set of Cayman balls once...the dimples were actually pimples. I even went to the course in the Cayman Islands that Nicklaus had designed for the balls, but they had converted the course back to an Executive 9. I found that the short irons went about 80-90% of normal distance, but the long clubs only went about 50-60% as far. That meant all clubs went a similar distance. I didn't see the point.
