Being from Columbia South Carolina we have a few local hero tour players, you hear stories of Dustin Johnson playing junior/high school in the area and of course Two Gloves lives about 40 mins down the road, but I learned today about a possible new star.

If you saw the leaderboard at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis today there was one player in the list with the (a) amateur designation, his name is Cody Proveaux and he's from Leesville which also outside Columbia. He just graduated from High School and is going to Clemson next year, got in to the tournament on a sponsor exemption. How cool is that?

From his picture he looks a little chunky. I hope he takes a page out of Jack Nicklaus's book and gets in good condition. I think more young players have failed not because of lack of talent but because they are unable to take the grind on tour. Pounding balls on the range and playing on the tour require stamina. Thats why top stars spend so much time in the fitness trailer provided by the tour.
