Awakward Moment when you're in the trees and your playing partner drives out to the fairway to watch for your ball, and you realize he's only sitting in the fairway because its not safe behind you with that many trees to hit through

Awkward Moment when you're in the bunker and your playing partner stands by the flag, and you think wow, thats nice of him, only to hear him say to the other two, he's standing behind the flag because its the safest spot on the green.

I once walked 50 yards, from the green to my cart, with the flagstick in my hand. I guess the only reason I realized what I'd done was when it wouldn't fit in my bag.

LMAO.... I haven't done this yet, but I've come close Smile

Awkward moment when I realize that the reason why my golf bag won't fit in my trunk is because one of the course's bunker rakes is in it. True story.

I have a couple of true stories from this weekend too... not me, but a newbie i was playing with

Awkward Moment when you skull a flop shot and everyone dives for cover, it hits the flag stick and drops 3 feet from the hole and you try and strut it off like it was your plan all along.

Awakward moment when you swing so hard, you swing and miss and your glasses fly off and go further than the ball

Golf is fun Smile

I actually saw a guy hit himself in the face with one of his own shots before. He topped it just right, and it rolled up his arm and schmucked him right in the chin.

I also saw my regular playing partner top one that went backwards. It was horribly hilarious. He was looking up towards the green, and the ball flubbed about three feet up in the air backwards. "Did you see it?" "Yeah..it's back here".

But the one that takes the cake was a tee shot I hit at the Pacific Springs Golf Course in Omaha, NE a couple of years ago. I pulled it to the road, and it bounced just right down the hill. Every bounce got bigger and bigger, and it followed the road just perfectly down the hill and around a corner into a housing development just hopping along. According to the GPS, it was close to 600 yards away when we lost sight of it, and it was still just hopping hapily along. Unfortunately, it was a 150 yard shot with a seven iron on a short par 3, and I had to take stroke and distance.

That awkward moment when....

Your light turns green, so you go. But then you realize that the car next to you didn't go, and you wonder "was my light really green?"

... when you hit a nice approach to the green and then the group in front of you walks on the green.

A course we play essentially hides everyone near the green so it looks like the green is open if the group is just arriving. Had a brain fart and didn't stop to consider why the green was "open" even though we had waited on almost every shot up to that point.

When I realized what I had done, I jogged up and apologized and fortunately they were all okay with my error.

... you hit a perfect 9-iron approach, using the yardage on a sprinkler head, only to find the green closed, and that you have over shot the temporary green by 20 yards.

Akward moment when you get up all excited to play golf, then you remember yesterday wasn't Saturday, it was the 4th of July, and you have to go to work today... and alas, no time for golf.

Did I place this in the wrong area?

While playing golf several years ago in SW Michigan, there was quite a backup at the 10th tee, my uncle ended up trading jokes with the lady (mid thirties) who was running the half-way house. After trading several slightly racy jokes, the lady threw a really dirty joke at us. After laughing at the joke, I thought I would be funny myself and turned to the other guy in our group and said “Hey Reverend, you think you could fit that one into your sermon next Sunday”. She stopped laughing and turned about 20 shades of red before we told her we were just kidding.
We still do that to new people we meet while playing golf, just to get their reaction.

Now that's just mean. I mean, I wouldn't care if it was me, but some people take that stuff really seriously.
